Jony Ive Joins Openai
Jony Ive, the famous former Apple Industrial Design Maven behind the appearance of the iPhone, iPad and other products of the technology giant, has joined Openai as part of a 6.5 billion dollar offer. Ive’s startup, LoveFrom, will connect with Sam Altman’s company.
New Role at Openai
IVE will help the company with artificial intelligence that has developed a chatbot, according to a video published on Openai’s X account. As part of the deal, Openai announced that it will acquire Ive’s startup, and Ive and his team will guide design efforts at the AI company.
The Future of AI
"Two years ago, Jony and I talked about what the future of AI and new computers would look like," said Altman, CEO of Openai. "It quickly became apparent for both of us that we needed a third company." Their mission is to create a device family with which people can use AI to "create all possible wonderful things," said Altman, noting that Ive and his team have already developed a prototype.
Background and Experience
Ive worked at Apple for over two decades and is known for his work on the iPhone, iMac, and other designs. He was Apple’s Chief Design Officer before leaving the company in 2019 to found his own design company, LoveFrom.
