Box Office Update

The new Warner Bros’ film has arrived with a strong global start, earning $102m this weekend. This number consists of an even split of $51m from domestic and international box offices for the well-rated title.

Overseas Performance

In overseas markets, the film has had the best debut of the long-term franchise. It has ranked number 1 in 53 offshore markets, outperforming other films like Smile (+232%), Happy Death Day (+194%), SAW X (+173%), Final Destination 5 (+133%), and The Final Destination (+96%).

Current Box Office Trends

Warner Bros has had a packed first half of the year, with great praise for films like A Minecraft film, Sinner, and now the latest release. This success comes just before a mega weekend for Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – The Last Billing.

Regional Performance

In terms of regional performance, the film came in 1st place in all of Latin America, exceeding the lifetime grosses of Smile 2, Halloween Ends, Scream VI, and The Final Destination. In Europe, it was number 1 for the region, especially in the UK and France.

Top-Performing Markets

The top 5 markets for the film were Mexico ($5.5 million), the United Kingdom ($5.3 million), the Philippines ($3.4 million), India ($3 million), and France ($3 million).

Other Box Office News

Meanwhile, Marvel/Disney’s Thunderbolts added $15.7m from overseas on its third weekend, bringing its international total to $170.3m and its global total to $325.7m. The top 5 markets for Thunderbolts are the United Kingdom ($18.4m), China ($15.2m), Mexico ($13.7m), France ($8.6m), and Australia ($7.8m).

Continued Success

Warner Bros/Legendary’s A Minecraft film built another $8.3m in 78 overseas markets, with a strong hold of -35% compared to last weekend. The international run of Cume is now $512m, with the global total to-date at $928.6m. The top five markets for A Minecraft film are the United Kingdom ($72.1m), Germany ($37.6 million), Australia ($34.6m), Mexico ($32.5m), and China ($28.7m).

Upcoming Releases

Next weekend will see the release of Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible – The Last Billing, which are expected to make a significant impact on the box office.
