Introduction to Halfpenny London

Today, in addition to his website and his business, Halfpenny has 30 specialist dealers who represent 30 percent of the business. On order, existing styles created that are tailored to the exact measurements of the bride. While tailor-made orders, where the design of the dress for the customer is original, begin at 25,000 GBP. They are so specialized, says Halfpenny and adds that the studio does not accept more than a dozen orders per year.

Expansion of Retail

On the back of steady growth, Halfpenny London focuses on the expansion of retail, with growing businesses, despite the tariffs, in Japan and the United Arab Emirates. With the expansion of the company, Halfpenny is determined to maintain their business in Great Britain, which is challenging.

The Beginning of Halfpenny London

You celebrate for 20 years of Halfpenny, but let us get it back to the beginning. How did you start? This interview is in a way a full-circuit moment. In 2005 I styled Emilia Fox and she married with the actor Jared Harris. In the end, I made two of her three clothes and came across her aunt Fiona Golfar, who used to work in fashion, and she said, “They were ever there a fashion house? Come to the taxi with me. I will deal with you for a look at you.” They made a feature about Bridal and asked me to make a veil for the writer Charlotte Sinclair, and they wrote about it. And that was the beginning of the brand.

Transition from Styling to Business

To what point did you say: "Ok, I will pack the styling and concentrate on my business"? My front dream would be a bridal studio on a weekend, and my husband James would be caught upstairs. He couldn’t go down because brides would change! Finally, he said: »You can clearly see the demand. You work all weekend and you have appointments in a row. ‘So I found a shop on the Camden Council website in 2013. I still styled, and so we opened the business that our flagship is still on Woburn Walk today. Back then I thought I just had to sell a dress a month to get this shop up and running. I didn’t know how much business a business actually costs. I was so naive that I didn’t think about small things, such as a telephone line or a burglar alarm and especially someone who occupies the shop while I still style.
