Sharkninja Recalls 1.8 Million Pressure Cookers Due to Burn Hazard

Sharkninja is recalling 1.8 million pressure cookers due to 106 reports of burn injuries that have led to more than two dozen complaints against the company, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. About 50 of the reports cited second or third-degree burns to the faces or bodies of consumers.

The Risk of Burn Injuries

Third-degree burns, the most serious level of burns, destroy the epidermis and dermis, or the outer and middle layers of skin, and can also damage bones, muscles, and tendons, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. The lid of the pressure cooker can be opened during use, allowing hot contents to escape and posing a burn risk to consumers.

Which Pressure Cookers are Under Recall?

The recall covers the Sharkninja Foodi OP300 series multifunctional cooking pots. The company is recalling 1.85 million of the devices in the United States and around 184,000 in Canada. The stoves, which can also air roast, were sold in black and have a capacity of 6.5 quarts.

The following model numbers are part of the recall:

  • OP300
  • O30
  • OP302
  • OP302BRN
  • OP302HCN
  • OP302HAQ
  • OP302HW
  • OP302HB
  • OP305
  • OP305CO
  • OP350CO

The model numbers are printed on a label on the side of the stove. Also included in the recall are OP300 series replacement quick-cook lids, which were purchased as an additional part.

Where Were the Sharkninja Devices Sold?

The Sharkninja devices were sold at Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, and Target stores in the USA. The pressure cookers were also available online at www.ninjakitchen.com, www.walmart.com, www.costco.com, www.samsclub.com, www.amazon.com, and www.target.com. The devices were sold from January 2019 to March 2025 and cost around $200.

What Should Consumers Do?

People who own the devices should stop using them immediately and contact Sharkninja for a free replacement lid, according to the CPSC. Consumers can continue to use the air roast and other functions of the product. To contact Sharkninja, consumers can call the company or send an email to Sharkninja@rqa-inc.com, or visit the company’s website at https://www.rqa-inc.com/client/SharkNinja/ or www.ninjakitchen.com and click on "Support" at the top of the page.
