An Alabama couple with the same dog breed met on Hinge, and as they fell in love, their pups also fell in love. Birmingham photographer Anna first came into contact with her now-husband David in the fall of 2024 after seeing a photo of his King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Linus, on his dating app profile. Not only was the puppy the same breed as her pooch Piper, but it was also the same color.<\/p>\n
Anna first reached out to David with the message, "Wait. I have a Ruby Cav too," to which he politely replied, "When can you meet?" Just a few days later, David, a marketing executive living in Huntsville, had to be in Birmingham for work, so he and Anna met in the park to walk their dogs. It was puppy love at first sight for Linus, 4, and Piper, 9, who immediately fell in love. \u201cJust best friends,\u201d Anna said. \u201cYes, they got along like they had known each other their whole lives,\u201d David added.<\/p>\n
Their humans were equally in love. \u201cI saw her walking by with her dog and she was incredibly beautiful,\u201d David gushed. \u201cWe had a lot in common, so there were really easy conversations and we laughed a lot.\u201d The couple lived an hour and a half apart, so they dated long distance for nine months before getting engaged – which took its toll on the bonded dogs. \u201cWhen we separated them, they refused to eat and became very sad,\u201d Anna said.<\/p>\n
When it came time to propose, David decided to pop the question in Highland Park, where they first met – with their fur babies in tow, of course. In the proposal video, they can be seen wagging their tails and approaching David as he gets down on one knee – seemingly understanding what was going on. \u201cYeah, I think they did,\u201d David said. \u201cThey love seeing us together too, so they\u2019re excited.\u201d<\/p>\n
The lovebirds, who tied the knot in July 2025, made sure to represent Linus and Piper on their wedding cake – with a set of tiny porcelain spaniels as toppers. The dogs are adjusting well to married life. \u201cThey love snuggling next to each other,\u201d Anna said. In November, Anna posted a video of the two pups cuddling, which went viral with almost 600,000 views. Many viewers of the heartwarming clip were unaware that the couple was already married.
