The 23-year-old had the two-carat, sparkling beauty made after losing his eyesight as a teenager. After he was diagnosed with toxoplasmosis infection, he began to go blind. Despite several surgeries, the teenager was told his eye could not be saved. Slater was determined to find a prosthetic that not only looked good, but also fit his career as a successful jewelry store owner.<\/p>\n
He enlisted the help of John Imm to create the unique artificial eye. The prosthetics genius wrote on Instagram: "I have made around 10,000 artificial eyes for patients ranging in age from 6 weeks to 101 years over the last 32 years." The artificial eye is the most valuable in terms of material, featuring a two-carat diamond. According to John Imm, "Why not a three-carat diamond, you ask? Well, that wouldn’t fit."<\/p>\n
