Ministers and school representatives will meet later for the first Jersey school council network of the new term. The meetings, which take place up to six times a year, allow primary and secondary school boards to shape policy directly with the government.<\/p>\n
The Department for Children, Young People, Education and Skills (CYPES) said the opening event of the semester will focus on safety and digital wellbeing. Education and Lifelong Learning Minister congratulated all the students who were elected to their school boards, calling it \u201ca huge responsibility but also a fantastic opportunity\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Minister, who will be attending the event alongside other officials, said: \u201cI am excited about the ideas and leadership you will bring to the table and look forward to working with you as part of the School Council Network.\u201d Another official said the network has grown into a \u201cpowerful, student-run forum.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI am proud to support a network that puts young voices at the center of decision-making, and I look forward to hearing more from them as they focus on safety, one of our priorities in the plan,\u201d he added. Students will also review Jersey’s new fixture list and ensure it reflects their current needs and experiences.<\/p>\n
According to CYPES, last term students helped redesign the playground, tested and tasted hot school meals and asked ministers hundreds of questions.
