The regional fund Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, based in Cologne, has awarded \u20ac2 million to the series <em>Message<\/em>, produced by Turbine Studios Germany and British production company Ascendant Fox for Prime Video.<\/p>\n<h2>Details of the Prime Video Series <em>Message<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Directed by Adolfo Kolmerer and John Strickland, <em>Message<\/em> stars JK Simmons as a US diplomat forced to work with his former lover, a British SAS soldier, after an attack on the American embassy in London. The series will shoot in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) for 60 days this year.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Supported Projects<\/h2>\n<p>The financing meeting also supported <em>Ghosts don&#8217;t cry<\/em> by Golden Bear winner Fatih Akin, a love story written by Ruth Toma, who also worked on his 2002 film <em>Solino<\/em>. Other projects include Marc Rothemund&#8217;s production <em>That certain something<\/em>, based on the French comedy <em>A little extra thing<\/em>, and David Wnendt&#8217;s adaptation of Nils Westerboer&#8217;s novel <em>Athos 2643<\/em>, which was selected for this year&#8217;s Venice Gap-Financing Market.<\/p>\n<h2>International Co-Productions<\/h2>\n<p>The Cologne Fund also supported several international co-productions, including Panos Cosmatos&#8217; <em>Meat of the gods<\/em>, Patrice Toye&#8217;s <em>The task<\/em>, Hlynur P\u00e1lmason&#8217;s <em>On land and sea<\/em>, and Arash and Arman Riahi&#8217;s <em>30 balls<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>FFF Bayern Production Support<\/h2>\n<p>The regional fund FFF Bayern in Bavaria awarded \u20ac900,000, the largest individual amount, to <em>Fack ju G\u00f6hte<\/em> director Bora Dagtekin for his comedy <em>The perfect vacation<\/em>, a continuation of his previous film <em>The perfect secret<\/em> with the same ensemble lineup. The film is based on Paolo Genovesi&#8217;s Italian treasury hit <em>Perfect strangers<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Projects Supported by FFF Bayern<\/h2>\n<p>The financing committee also supported two projects with Oscar-nominated production results: Alireza Golfashans&#8217; thriller <em>Friday<\/em> and Pia Hellenthal&#8217;s comedy <em>The stars or death<\/em>. <em>Friday<\/em> is the first project to be produced by the Munich-based outfit Story Garden Film, while <em>The stars or death<\/em> is Hellenthal&#8217;s fiction feature debut after her 2019 documentary <em>Search Eva<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Support for Documentaries<\/h2>\n<p>Essential Film Produktion&#8217;s <em>Imperium<\/em> (working title) by Sergei Loznitsa is one of six documentary film projects that will receive around \u20ac900,000 as part of the cultural film financing program.
