Miley Cyrus premiered her visual album "Something Beautiful" for a full audience in the New York Beacon Theater as part of the 2025 Tribeca Festival. However, Cyrus, who has just released the audio recording of "Something Beautiful" last week, with the visual album set to come out next week, is already looking to the future.<\/p>\n
At an album release party last week at Chateau Marmont, Cyrus hinted that "Something Beautiful" is only "the appetizer" for an "extremely experimental" upcoming album. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter before the "Something Beautiful" visual album premiere, Cyrus shared a bit more about what to expect from this future release, which will likely feature 12 tracks.<\/p>\n
"And I think I know how they at least feel, and I started with this album, which was not necessarily about the sound or even the look or vision – it’s what they feel," said Cyrus. "So I have the feeling that I know something that is." She also teased that this future album would hopefully be less about "pressure" and more "about the music".<\/p>\n
"For me personally, it would only be the fulfillment to always do what is real and right at this moment, but I think it will come without the pressure that I have had on myself in the past two decades of my career," she said. "I really want to do something that doesn’t have this kind of power over me and is only about the music."<\/p>\n
In the Beacon Theater, "Something Beautiful" played on the big screen to a mostly enthusiastic audience. The performance-oriented visual album takes place somewhat like a series of music videos, with each song receiving its own visual representation and the singer wearing a series of dramatic outfits.<\/p>\n
Cyrus mainly appears on soundstages and ventures outside around "Easy Lover", where she walks around on a studio property and winks at a spectator, and for "Walk of Fame", which she filmed on the Hollywood sidewalk of the same name in the middle of the night and with a "brutal" knee infection, as she previously explained. The visual album ends with Cyrus singing "Reborn" in the rain and contains a cameo from "Something Beautiful" guest Naomi Campbell on "Every Girl You Have Ever Loved".<\/p>\n
Cyrus spoke in a Q&A after the screening with co-directors Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter and producer Panos Cosmatos, and opened up about getting Campbell to join her for "Something Beautiful". "If Naomi wants to do something with me or an artist, they do it. They do it," said Cyrus. "And there was never a time when we came together in the same room and cut these vocals. It was always something that felt effortless and simple."<\/p>\n
Cyrus said she and Michael Pollack, who wrote the album with her, wrote the verse about "Every Girl" for Campbell and essentially "channeled" it. "And she had no notes," said Cyrus about Campbell. "I didn’t believe them when they said she had already cut her verse, and it was better than I could ever imagine. We really tried to embody your essence, which is only the ultimate grace, strength, beauty, and heritage."<\/p>\n
Despite Campbell’s influence, Cyrus generally said for "Something Beautiful" that she "really protected it, not a lot of references because I wanted to be the reference, something that nobody ever done… I adore the Tina Turners, the Donna Summers, Diana Ross, so many women before me, this way that I am. This is my journey."
